On behalf of the scientific committee, I am delighted to invite you to participate in ICSEMIS 2012. In partnership with the IOC, IPC, FIMS and ICSSPE, the ICSEMIS 2012 Convention provides a unique opportunity to experience a truly multi-disciplinary, multi-national and multi-cultural programme. With world leading experts across the entire spectrum of disciplines associated with sport and exercise related studies the scientific programme will provide an exciting and unique opportunity to experience and share with thought leaders in the field examining contemporary theory, practice and the translation of theory to practice.
The scientific programme builds on the theme of the Convention: Inspiring a Learning Legacy, within ten sub-themes including: Athlete Welfare; Eligibility and Inclusion; Elite Performance; Sports Medicine and Injury Prevention; Governance and Policy; International Sports Development and Management; Major Sporting Events; Pedagogy; Physical Activity and Health; and Sport and Faith. Keynotes from world leaders will be inter-weaved with over 100 parallel sessions and 1000′s of free communications (oral and poster) to provide a unique multi-disciplinary insight into the broad spectrum of sport and exercise related studies. The international mix of delegates from across the world will provide a rich cultural experience together with a range of learning opportunities supported by a programme including a science cafe, meet the experts, practical workshops and public engagement programmes.
ICSEMIS 2012 will be hosted in the historic city of Glasgow just days prior to the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games providing a fitting backdrop to this truly unique Convention. We would be honoured to welcome you as a delegate to ICSEMIS 2012, experience the world’s only truly multi-disciplinary congress in sport and exercise, and participate in a once in a life time experience.
